\"\"In an exciting initiative that showcases the power of communication and collaboration, the 6th-grade students of the 9th Primary School of Heraklion, Crete, created a unique podcast, bringing their voices to Europe!<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of their participation in the European program \u00ab\u00a0Kids Radio Europe\u00a0\u00bb and responding to an invitation from the French partners \u00ab\u00a0Les Francas\u00a0\u00bb, our students embraced the theme \u00ab\u00a0Youth Participation in Europe\u00a0\u00bb from the French local project \u00ab\u00a0Coll\u00e9giens Citoyens\u00a0\u00bb (\u00ab\u00a0Student Citizens\u00a0\u00bb).<\/span><\/p>\n

Radio, as a medium of communication and interaction, offers a unique platform for students to host and manage an information channel while also developing their media literacy skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

The students\u2019 podcast, full of energy and enthusiasm, opened with the song \u00ab\u00a0On \u00e9crit sur les murs\u00a0\u00bb by Demis Roussos, interpreted by KIDS UNITED \u2014 a song about solidarity, peace, and hope \u2014 along with a warm \u00ab\u00a0good morning\u00a0\u00bb to the listeners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through their voices, the students proudly presented the 9th Primary School of Heraklion, describing its modern building, bright classrooms, the multipurpose room, and the basketball court, emphasizing that \u201cyou never get bored at our school!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, our young radio producers took listeners on a journey through the beautiful city of Heraklion and Crete. They described the crystal-clear beaches, the impressive mountains, the rich and unique flora with endemic plants, as well as the renowned Cretan hospitality and cuisine. They also spoke about the island\u2019s rich history, from ancient myths to the Minoan civilization and the Palace of Knossos.<\/span><\/p>\n

What made the project even more special was its intercultural dimension. The students translated each sentence from Greek into French, with the valuable support of two students from Jean Monnet University (Saint-\u00c9tienne, France) \u2014 Alyssia Douat and Audrey Notin \u2014 as well as the school\u2019s French teacher, Ms. Maria Giakoumaki. This approach not only strengthened their language skills, but also promoted cultural understanding and cooperation between European teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative is a brilliant example of how students can gain valuable experiences, develop skills, and enhance youth participation in European programs.<\/span><\/p>\n
